Dr. Weiguang Long, is the Vice Director of the Institute of Chest Wall Surgery at Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, and the Executive Committee Member and Secretary-General of the Chest Wall Surgery Specialty Committee at the Guangdong Association of Thoracic Diseases.
Dr. Long has been engaged in the clinical, scientific research, and educational work of chest wall surgery for over 10 years. Notably, in the
area of chylous diseases, Dr. Long has successfully improved the techniques of chemical pleurodesis and pericardial window. Through these advancements, he has successfully treated over 200 complex chylous disease cases, achieving a remarkable 100% cure rate for congenital chylothorax. All congenital chylothorax patients who were cured showed no subsequent complications, with both physical growth and intellectual development proceeding normally.
Dr. Long pioneered the concept of "promoting the reconstruction and recanalization of chest wall lymphatic circulation" following extensive research into the structure and function of the lymphatic system. This innovative approach has set a new standard in the minimally invasive treatment of chylothorax. He has led and contributed to 6 provincial and municipal research projects, published over 10 academic papers including 4 SCI-indexed articles, and holds 6 national patents.
