Wang Procedure for A 3-Year-Old Patient with Depression of Lateral Chest Wall

Medical History

The patient, a 3-year-old boy, has exhibited a localized depression on the right side of his chest wall. Initially, the deformity was mistakenly assumed to be caused by a calcium deficiency. Treatments with substantial doses of cod liver oil and calcium supplements were attempted, but there was no improvement.

Preoperative Examination

The lower part of the right chest wall exhibited a depression affecting the middle portions of the 7th, 8th, and 9th ribs and the costal arch. The patient was diagnosed with depression of the right lateral chest wall.
